[WM/H] Gates of Woe: Deployment

Cryxian forces under the Lich Lord Asphyxious have occupied the ruined Quiron Temple, a relic of ancient Morrdh at which terrible sacrifices were once made to the infernal called the Sounder at the Gates of Woe.  Troubled by the vision of this rift between the worlds becoming active once more, the High Reclaimer has led troops to the north, and with the help of the Piper of Ord, has successfully crossed the Dragon’s Tongue and now seeks to destroy the temple.  The Greylords Covenant has sent Alexander Karchev south with a small group to investigate the rumours of Cryxian activity and to seize whatever has drawn the undead into the Motherland.  Finally, after a disturbing encounter with her sister, Captain Haley has led a small group of hand-picked men on a mission of revenge across the Khadoran border.

That’s the setup.  We played the game last night.  Four nerds; 150 points of stuff; and I’ll save the revelation of when we started for the end.  The scenario was a mod of ‘Siege on Fort [Something]’ from No Quarter #6, with the interactive terrain removed, the points costs updated, and a second caster for the defender.  Each of the attackers has the same primary objective; kill Asphyxious.  As soon as he dies, the secondaries kick in.  The Cryx objective is simply to keep Asphyxious alive for as long as possible, and to kill at least one enemy warcaster to test the rededicated temple.  As soon as a faction’s warcaster is removed, that player leaves the game entirely.
